I don't even use it. Just set the high and low limits to align with the largest and smallest cogs, install chain (of proper length), fine tune and done.
On 50t XX1 the white tool is slightly bending since the cage outside is constructed a bit differently than in GX (it's thicker). I was wondering if you saw anything like that?
Two questions…
1. I ride a Scott Genius with lockout system, so i can ride it in hardtail (locked), trail (semi locked) or downhill (open). In wich position would you recommend setting the B-gap
2. I don’t really get the 3mm alan key hack… you say if it barely can slide in, it’s good, but if i look at the video, the key fits in easily 4 times between the cogs of the jockey wheel and the 50t
am i wrong or am i missing something?

Does the white tool also have to be set under sag?
Importent that U must have your sag when you adjust the gap with the new tool…! Nice and informative video, well done
Both tools are great but I find the new one easier and more intuitive to use.
Thanks, I updated to the new Lunar GX derailleur but having a 50T cassette. I found out that the new tool is very good but it leads to the wrong B screw setting in my bike if I use the center adjustment. I'm using the oval 28T chainring in front from Absolut Black Oval and with the center adjustement I have some issues with the 42 cog. Sometimes the chain wants to ride on top of the 42. Very bad indeed but I adjusted so that marker goes from center to the right direction about 2mm. At the same time I had the cranks in horizontal position. Perfect setup for me and no issues. I can also backpedal forever if I want to in any cog and no chain dropping issues. I think the Lunar is much stronger than the previous derailleur. I would say it is better than the old one for sure.
Just saw this video. I’ve tried using it a few times and it always nerfs up my shifting, to get spot on shifting with no issues, I found it easier to eye ball it on the stand, set it and forget it. I do ride a hardtail, so no sag setup required. It’s simple to use but definitely a ballpark tool that gets you “close”.
I'm having a hard time getting my eagle to shift well. I just ordered the tool, hopefully it will be better than using my 3mm hex key as the spacer.

How do you do the sag part if you are one person?
just used both Tools on an Garbaruk 10-48 with Rival Mullet Build but I had an Difference of about 4-5 mm between the two. No Idea why….At the End the Setting with the old Tool shifts better.

On the new white one, the thin part that rests on the outside of the big cog breaks off too easily. 99% are already broke..Sram knows this!!

Seems like you can just keep pushing in the screw until it clears the cog like we've always done without a piece of plastic. Am I missing something?
What to you mean by the "sag point?" Is that when the rider is seated, and the bike at proper sag? So how do you get there if the bike is on the stand, just remove air from the shock till the bike goes to the "sag point?"
For a full suspension, do you have to be in sag position with the new tool as well?
I think SRAM recommends to set this up while the bike is in the sag position, have you done that or just as is? Have you compared the shifting of both methods?

Hi, thanks for the excellent video and clear instructions. One, perhaps stupid, question: can you use both or one of those chain gap tools for a 'old' 10/50 cassette with the 'new' derailleur?? (because the 'old' derailleur is out of stock everywhere, mine is bent out of proportion I'm afraid)
