judging how he came in to business and his expansion, and the amount of HAAS machines I imagine that aren't paid off yet, I'm guessing he's more than a little afraid of loosing everything.

1:15:00 I'm surprised there isn't a product that has two pipes to each coolant tank from a box on the wall. You can then pump coolant from the tanks to the box and back. The box measures the concentration of the tank at the box [one measurement]. Depending on the level, it adds coolant or water and pushes that down the pipe to the tank. All fully automated.
As a shooter, I have bought a few Area 419 items and have been highly impressed. Area 419 has a reputation kinda like Really Right Stuff (RRS) where buyers expect best in class design, performance, fit, and finish and are never let down. Watching this video series on the shop tours has convinced me that Area 419 will be the first place I look for things I need going forward. Great folks, great company, great products, and a shining example of the next generation of American manufacturing.

That was inspiring, thanks for sharing. Would it be possible to go over costs on tours like this? For example, building costs, machine costs, etc. Grand Designs always concludes with asking those questions.

Impressive shop, looks to be some huge investments done, ten million+. Looking at their webshop and products I at first glance can't figure out how those relative few and small products can defend the investments, but they must sell a large numbers of each item, and/or they might do general custom jobs not shown in the video. I do not doubt the gentleman is fully on top of things. Impressive being able setting up such a shop in the US today, with all the competition from overseas/Asia. Interesting tour, well done, best of luck.

Late to the table here, but the discussion of the DT-1 at 55:43 was hugely insightful. Acceleration isn't one of the headline specs for a machine tool, but it clearly has a huge impact on cycle times. Got me thinking about why Fanuc Robodrill owners seem to keep buying them again and again.

Where do you come up with the money for this in the first place? I live in Canada, which in my opinion, is a country that passes skilled trades as expendable coal miners and it's really difficult to get any traction. So yeah, I'm just wondering how in the hell do you have a bazillion dollars to buy all of those machines new. PLUS build not only one but now a second building. What is your secret man. Where I work the guy just bought a fadal from 2004 and the 13,000$ price tag was almost too much for him… However, it finally replaced a Mazak from 1980 that had some bad batteries and they reprogrammed the unit every time they started it. It was horrible.

there should be magnetic squeegees to manually clean those windows. It would pain me to look through there as an operator.
